An entertaining mix of dark, biting beauty, plugged into absurdity, and infused with irony, Breakfast On Wall Street is the culmination of three years of studio experimentation conducted across the Atlantic Ocean, between Germany and Canada. The best of it is found in this collection of toe-stubbing fun, which features woodwinds, various guitars, prepared piano, unusual samples and studio effects. The twelve tracks range from darkly absurd Americana like Porchview and Blues Notice to the spacious brushstrokes of Reclining Nude and Looking Back. One of our personal favorites, TransAtlantische- Zeitzonen, is built from ambient recordings taken simultaneously in Berlin and Hamilton, and was selected for inclusion in the Deep Wireless 4 compilation CD. Written just two months before irresponsible financiers triggered a worldwide recession, the title track Breakfast on Wall Street is a premonition, a dark jam session for your morning toast.
